Nutty Creations

Fall 2011 Knitscene is starting to show up!

The fall 2011 issue of Knitscene is hitting shelves as I type.  As always, Lisa and crew have put together a stunning issue.  All kinds of great projects.  I feel honored to have my Hawkmoth Pullover included in the mix.  Hawkmoth is a saddle-shouldered pullover with slightly flared sleeves.  It is knit up in lace weight yarn (Filatura di Crosa Nirvana to be specific).  The sweater weighs mere ounces!

Don’t be intimidated by the fact that it is a whole sweater in lace-weight.  It is worked up in a looser gauge, giving a gauzy, sheer appearance.  The trickiest part was binding off and seaming.  The gauge is so loose that the fabric is very elastic.  The bind off edges and seams want to fight that elasticity.

I have to admit, I am a little hooked on the whole light weight sweater thing.  I foresee several more coming in the not-too-distant future.

this is a cool item. this is what summer sweaters should be about. I’d love to get my hands on this pattern; and any other tops with the same type of sheerness. what a great idea… kudos to the creator.

  2. love this pull for my much younger nieces who have the young figures to wear, but also thought that it would be fun to knit larger in a wildish color and layer over subdued tee or vice versa, having something light but incredibly warm and cuddly is great. Thanks for the great pattern
