A Simple Cardigan
My friend Dani (Sunshine Yarns) is doing some new one time clubs. The first one is a sweater club using her Merino Worsted yarn. I offered to write up a pattern for her to include in the shipment. The sweater I came up with is based off of one of my favorite store bought sweaters. I love it because it is simple (both in terms of the knitting itself and in the appearance) and very wearable. With that, I introduce the Simple Cardigan.
My awesome sister Laura (ravelry link) did the sample/test knit of this for me. I just had to do the sewing, the collar, and attaching the button. How lucky am I? I am so pleased with the way it turned out. Fits perfectly! I have actually worn it a couple of times, which speaks highly of the sweater. Those of you who know me realize that I rarely wear my hand knits. (Crazy I know.)
The sweater is knit in Sunshine Yarns Merino Worsted in the Peacock colorway. You could knit the sweater in other worsted weight yarns, but the hand dyed qualities of Dani’s yarn work wonderfully with the simplicity of this sweater. The top part of the sweater is reverse stockinette stitch, the bottom part stockinette stitch. The edges are rolled, and the bands along the front opening are knit along with the fronts. It really is a simple sweater!
