Successful Lace Knitting
My friend Donna Druchunas has a new book out. Its called Successful Lace Knitting: Celebrating the Work of Dorothy Reade. The book is really cool. It is a mixture of Dorothy Reade biography, lace technique, and patterns by various designers. And, yes. I am one of the designers who was included.
The premise behind the designs in this book is that each designer got a different Dorothy Reade stitch pattern to work with and created the design of their choice using that motif. My stitch pattern was the Closed Bud pattern, and the resulting design is the Day and Night Toddler Cardigan and Blanket. The set is knit up in Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sport, making it all unbelievably soft AND washable. Kristi was awesome enough to knit the blanket sample up for me.
I did work up another design that ended up not making the final cut. I am working with Donna to figure out how we want to roll that one out. Look for it some time soon…
