Noura Socks
I think it is safe at this point to reveal that I did the sock pattern for the Loopy Ewe November sock club mailing. And this one was a fun one! The yarn is a custom color of Bugga! from the Sanguine Gryphon. The colorway is called Great Purple Hairstreak, and it is a vibrant combination of blue and purple. All I could think of was glowing light — like the aurora borealis — when I saw the yarn. I picked the name Noura for the socks. It is an Arabic name meaning “light”.
The Noura socks are knit from the top down, starting with a fancy twisted stitch (with a touch of lace) ribbing pattern. The ribbing transitions into columns of lace that taper to a point on the instep. The columns transition into a subtly ribbed heel flap.
The resulting sock would also look great knit up in a solid sock yarn. Hmmm… Maybe I will have to start a second pair…
One last note. This pattern is currently only available for members of the Loopy Ewe Sock Club. Sheri will make the pattern widely available in approximately 6 months.
How pretty! The lace pattern is nice but I especially like the heel ribbing. Lovely colors!
