Nutty Creations

So are you all familiar with Piecework Magazine?  It is another publication from Interweave Press that focuses on historical needlework.  Neat magazine.  Every year they do a variety of issues with a specific focus, like knitting or lace.  This year I had a project in the lace issue.  A little christening gown.

My friend Donna Druchunas has done a lot of research into and work on the lace of Dorothy Reade, including the book Successful Lace Knitting.  (Why, yes.  I do have a project or two in that book.)  Anyway, this christening gown was a project I put together based on some Dorothy Reade lace motifs.  Donna and I decided to submit it to Piecework to accompany an article she wrote in conjunction with her research.  It is such a beautiful little project.  Happy to get to share it with everyone!

If you have any interest at all in traditional needlework of all sorts, I encourage you to run out and buy a copy of Piecework.  You won’t be disappointed!

Have just come across Christening gown pattern in Piecework May/June 2011. Want to do a sample of stitch but want to do it in the round. It would be just the chart within the red rectangle?
