The holiday 2011 issue of Knit Simple…
Okey dokey… I was going to talk about a sweater I have in the latest issue of Knit Simple, wasn’t I? Let me start by saying that one of the things I really like about Knit Simple is that they do a nice job of covering projects for the whole family and many body types. The projects are appropriate for newer knitters, but still fun for the more experienced knitters, too. So, anyway, I did a design for the holiday issue called the Stand Up Collar Coat. The sample was to be knit up in a larger size (women’s 12) than I typically do for magazines — a nice change of pace. The end result is something I would love to have in my own wardrobe.
The coat is knit up in Cascade Yarns Rustic, which is a wool and linen blend. I never in a million years would have thought about combining these fibers, but let me tell you, I love this yarn. It is soft, it is easy to work with, and it just looks so nice knit up. The coat itself is done in a woven stitch pattern, so the fabric is very flat and drapey. The edges are self-finishing, which means sew the pieces together, pick up and knit a collar, and you are ready to go. I hope you enjoy this sweater. I know I did!
Next on deck — some sock patterns, a mitten pattern, a shawl pattern, and maybe even a sweater pattern!
